How to adjust to the new normal?

Throughout this pandemic I have been having a whole cycle of mood swings and anxiety decided jotting down my thoughts about this would help people who feel the same way!!!

Feeling sad, stressed or angry while coping with Alpha + (The new variant of COVID-19) is normal. It's not only the fear and anxiety about the disease but also being away from schools, friends and relatives. Adjusting to this new way of life and understanding that covid will be around and it's we who have to make the changes.

But guess what? You are not alone!

There are some things you can practice daily to limit symptoms that impact your mental health during this pandemic:

Stick to a routine every day, get up in the morning, take a shower and get dressed as if you would be going out.

Make your bed and clean up the house.

Do stretches yoga, Tai chi or maybe even intensive exercises like cardio...

Bond with your family this is the time when you get to watch movies together or play boardgames like Monopoly.  Watchout for the elderly people around you who needs help the most.

Eat decent healthy meals and try to have many vegetables and fruit every day.... sometimes try cooking,  put all your soul into it and dish out something simply yummy but the process should be funfilled. Trust me this works i've tried it.

Try to find a nice and quite place where you can relax and do your work to it's full potential.

Practice deep breathing and meditation. (This is a new habit I have been trying it helps in reducing daily study/work stress) and the nagging I am put through by my mother and grandmother.

Reduce caffeine intake as this will increase your stress and anxiety levels

Do calls friends and cousins and have long chats.

Have set time towards the end of the day for social media usage.  I know for the past one year many of us have been excessively using social media, let's use it wisely (I am trying hard to not use my mobile till I finish all my school work but many a times I break the rule I have set for myself but I will keep trying).

Connect with counselor or therapist online if you are going through a difficult time coping with indescribable emotions. If you're an introvert who does not like to talk to strangers about your life then you need to confide to people you trust. Talk to them, share what you feel, and listen to what they say.(Trust me you will feel alot better after you try this.)  I have been doing this and it has helped me immensely.

If you are a new pet parent ( I am one, his name is Dexter and he is a jack russell terrier) spend more time with him/her, bond with your pet in such a way it becomes a part of your daily routine because when everything goes back to normal no matter how busy you get you will make time to do these for your little four legged brother/sister. Take them for walks, learn to bake treats for them.  You will enjoy ever moment spent with them because they are the ones who will love you unconditionally and put a smile on face when you are low.

Try and share positive vibes with other people through social media....There is a saying, "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud" encourage people who are feeling low and think that they won't survive through this pandemic....

Sleep is a significant part of our lives. It not only repairs your damaged cells and helps in healing but also keeps your mind functional. Without a good night's rest, you won't be able to concentrate, think, and act. Sleep deprivation creates stress, headache, and harms your mood. Therefore, you must practice good sleeping habits.

Music can have amazing effects on our physical and mental well being. Researchers have discovered it can lessen pain, reduce depression, and decrease anxiety.

These are only few ideas of how we can cope with all the craziness that's happening to us and around us during  these difficult times and stay cheerful.

That's all for today

Aishu
